Photos of Casa Colorado, Tamarindo
102 photos of our family's vacation rental home in Tamarindo, Costa Rica: the private pool with its waterfall and rope swing, the covered patio, the great room and kitchen, all four bedrooms, the casita and the jungle garden where the monkeys hang out.
The pool, the waterfall and the rope swing
The heart of Casa Colorado: a private, natural-shape pool, 5 feet deep and freshly refinished in a beautiful deep blue, with a stone waterfall, jacuzzi jets, evening lights and the only private pool rope swing in Tamarindo. The yard is walled on all four sides and shaded by big tropical trees where howler monkeys nap.

The covered patio and outdoor dining
Through the double doors, the covered patio runs the width of the house. A long teak table seats 10 for family dinners, teak sofas and chairs with blue cushions fill the lounge side, and café lights come on at night. It is the room guests mention most.

Ping pong, the grill and the pool deck
At one end of the pool deck: a professional outdoor ping pong table, the gas BBQ grill, lounge chairs in the sun and the stone surf bodega where boards and laundry live. Tournaments here get serious.

Pool, patio, ping pong. Then dinner for ten under the café lights.
The great room and dining
One open space runs from the front door to the patio doors: a vaulted great room with ceiling fans, white sofas, a smart TV and a big round dining table that seats the whole group.

The kitchen
A full kitchen built for cooking for 12: granite island with bar stools, stainless steel refrigerator, range, microwave and dishwasher, wood cabinets and filtered drinking water.
The master suite
The king master suite has a wardrobe, reading chair, air conditioning and a spa-style en-suite bathroom with a long granite double vanity.

The queen bedroom
The queen bedroom has a carved wood bed, air conditioning and its own en-suite bathroom with a glass shower.
The bunk room
Kids claim the bunk room first: a twin-over-full bunk bed, green walls, air conditioning, a desk and its own en-suite bathroom.
The casita
The casita is a separate little house with its own entrance and porch. It has a queen bed and a twin, a kitchenette with a microwave, coffee maker and sink, a small dining table, a stone vessel sink and stone shower, air conditioning, a TV and a safe. It sleeps 3.

The monkeys come with the house.
Gardens, monkeys and the jungle
Casa Colorado backs onto a protected green zone. Howler monkeys and iguanas are regular visitors, and the gardens are full of heliconia, hibiscus and orchids, with a hammock tucked into the shade.

Arriving at Casa Colorado
Inside the gate, a stone path leads through the courtyard garden to the main house porch. The casita sits to one side with its own entrance. Landscape lights come on in the evening.
